The Height — A Child Needs Someone Taller

The Height — A Child Needs Someone Taller

For a long time, I used to kneel when speaking with a child.
It felt right — like becoming a partner in their little world.
I wanted them to feel seen, safe, and equal.

Until one day, someone told me:
“Children don’t need another partner.
They need a mentor — someone taller to look up to.”

That changed everything.
I realized that by lowering myself, I was meeting them where they were,
but not showing them where they could go.

When I stay at my height, I become a living map —
not a shadow beside them, but a direction ahead of them.

A child needs someone taller —
not to rule, but to reveal how growth looks,
and to become someone they can follow by example.
